Sasà Martucci
Owner of the celebrated pizzeria I Masanielli - Sasà Martucci in Caserta, he is one of the great figures and innovators of the contemporary pizza landscape, capable of charting an identity-driven and high-profile path. At the heart of his production philosophy lie relentless research into doughs and a meticulous selection of raw materials, which led him to develop the concept of "sustainable pizza": an ethical manifesto aimed at celebrating virtuous small producers from the Campania region through an ultra-short and transparent supply chain.
His professional journey traces its roots back to 2001 with the opening of the first, historic location of I Masanielli in via Acquaviva in Caserta, which rapidly established itself as a local benchmark for pizza by the slice and takeout. The technical breakthrough occurred in 2007 when he moved to his uncle Franco’s pizzeria, Il Solito Posto, dedicating himself for five years to an all-consuming study on perfecting doughs.
In 2016, with dedication and his own resources, he crowned the dream of a banner entirely his own by inaugurating his current 140-seat venue behind the Caserta station. A successful project that since 2018 has consecrated his pizzeria among the best in Italy, cemented by its stable position at the top of the prestigious 50 Top Pizza guide. Awarded the excellent Three Spades (Tre Spicchi) rating by Gambero Rosso’s Pizzerie d'Italia guide, Sasà combines an excellent baking technique with a sharp managerial vision and great sensitivity for gastronomic pairings.
